What is whimseek?
whimseek is a private workspace for thinking through your career, comparing possible directions, organizing a job search, and preparing thoughtful outreach. It helps you research and save relevant companies, jobs, people, source links, decisions, and follow-up tasks; draft outreach messages; tighten job-specific resumes; practice interviews; and review and revise your LinkedIn profile. It is designed to help you turn a big career question into research, decisions, and next steps you can revisit.
The story behind whimseek
The idea
The job market is rough right now. Several of my favorite people have been trying to make career changes and hitting walls. They've tried at least a dozen AI tools for career navigation, coaching, and résumé rewrites. Whenever job searches come up, the conversation lands on "I wish there was one place for all of this."
Since I like building things, I built them one. It started as a small toolkit, then I refined the experience through screen shares and walkthroughs.
After a few rounds, I wondered whether I could package this workflow for real. Between a master's in computer information systems and years designing enterprise applications, often for sales teams, I knew the problem well. Time was the constraint, so I focused on making the experience useful before making it broad.
The design
Everything starts with relationships. Clicking "Apply" can send your résumé into a stack with thousands of others, where an applicant tracking system may determine whether a person ever sees it. Though job searching is often treated as a numbers game, tech has shown me that volume rarely creates the right outcome. People need context and relationships.
I spent a chunk of my career in Sales Ops, sitting right across from our business development representatives ("smile and dial," y'all). That experience taught me how to build relationships through cold outreach.
I've built those lessons into whimseek to help applicants advocate for themselves: work toward referrals through thoughtful follow-ups, nurture relationships over time, and gather the context needed to decide which opportunities to prioritize.

The pilot
